Subject: Security Issues
During a recent Safety Directors conference call several security issues
were discussed. These issues are as follows.
When passing through the security screening point, comply with the
security screener’s request. If you don’t believe that the screener is
acting correctly or their request is not reasonable, you may discuss the
request with the Ground Security Coordinator (GSC) at the checkpoint. DO NOT
become belligerent or refuse to comply with the screener’s or GSC’s request.
One major carrier has had two flight crewmembers, in uniform, arrested in
the last three weeks. These individuals were led away from the checkpoint in
handcuffs and charged with disorderly conduct. Please let your Manager or
the Safety Department know about any unreasonable requests.
Flight Attendants at a code sharing partner airline report that they are
being asked by passengers if their particular flight has Sky Marshals on
board. If you are questioned about Sky Marshals, please tell the passenger
that you do not have that information. Please don’t say "No.", "The airplane
is to small." or "They only tell the Captain not us."
If you have any questions about security issues please contact your Manager
or the Safety Department.
